This past Thursday, June 8, 2023, 23 year old Vladimir Popov was enjoying a beach day off Hurghada Egypt with his girlfriend and father when tragedy struck. Vladimir became the victim of a brutal shark attack that would take his life. The shark responsible, a 10 ft tiger shark, was captured and has been sent for study at a nearby laboratory. The incident took place just yards off of the crowded beach and was witnessed and filmed by shocked beachgoers. The video has since gone viral online with millions of views worldwide. In response to the attack, Egyptian authorities closed down a 46 mile stretch of coastline through Sunday June, 11. This attack follows 2 similar attacks that occurred near the same area of the Red Sea last year in which 2 women, Austrian and Romanian, lost their lives.
